How to Create Cheap Picture Wall Hangings
The wonderful thing about this idea is that there are countless puzzles that you can purchase around town at your local thrift store for next to nothing.
A buck, fifty cents... you get the picture. (No pun intended!)
Creating Cheap Picture Wall Hangings
What you'll first want to do is go shopping. Look through all of the puzzles you come across and pick the ones that you like the best. Ones with beautiful scenaries that work well with your home decor.Once you've found the puzzle(s) you like it's recommended you take it home and put it together to make sure all the pieces are there.
But before we get into that, let's talk about what you'll need...
What You'll Need to Create Cheap Picture Wall Hangings:
You can get the matboard at your local arts and craft store. The matboard you'll choose for the background should be relatively thick. Likely a double mat instead of a single one. Be certain to also get a color that works will with the puzzle you have chosen to use as your wall art.
When you're shopping be certain you also have dimensions of your puzzles on hand. Especially if you need to have the matboard you plan to use as the background cut down.
The matboard frame should also be cut down to the appropriate size in order to fit over the matboard that will serve as the background for your puzzle.
Once you've got all of that settled, time to take everything home.
If you have a flat surface, such as a table, that you can work with you may be able to slide the entire puzzle on top of the matboard without disturbing it. If not, take it apart and put it back together on top of the matboard.
Once it's together, you'll want to position it and make sure it's straight. Find the appropriate location where you would like the puzzle to be permanently positioned. Once you've found it, it's then time to take the puzzle apart piece by piece and glue the back of it on the matboard.
After it's glued, let it sit for 24-48 hours in order to dry. Once it's dry, it's time to then glue on the frame. Let the frame dry and then once it's dry, apply the hooks to the back of the matboard and then hang it.
Voila! A classy mosaic-style wall hanging for next to nothing!
